About
Who We Are
Purpose
“SHELTER youth exists to reach youth of St. John’s and the metro area, connect them to believers, teach them the truth of God’s Word so that they can bring honor to God with their lives and be mobilized to impact their world.”
Logo
The s-shaped symbol is that of a hurricane (official symbol used in meteorology), representing the difficulties of life that we face as youth. The circle on the outside symbolizes God's sovereignty over every situation/storm. And the Cross at the centre symbolizes God's help in the midst of the storm (the greatest of which was our SIN [separation from God] in which we needed a Savior = Jesus on the cross)

For Youth
Through our weekly events on Friday nights, annual youth camps and retreats, YC, social outings, recreation, small groups, and more, we work to build an environment where you can connect to other youth and to God. A place where you belong and can grow to be ALL that God has made you to be!
If you are 12 (or in grade 7) or older, check us out on Friday nights at 7:30 pm @ Elim, 565 Kenmount Road. Also, during the summers, remember that we have SHELTER on Wednesdays @ 7:30 pm.
For Parents
You are a huge part of what we do here at SHELTER youth. The best youth ministries are those that create an environment where the leadership and the parents can work together for the betterment of the student.
We are planning to be more intentional in this area this year by hosting a Parent seminar on current youth issues, having Parent meetings, and establishing open dialogue/contact.
Feel free to contact Pastor Owen with any comments, questions, ideas, or concerns. We’d love to hear from you!
