On my drive into the office this morning I heard these welcomed words, today is the last day of winter! Show me the love button! It certainly doesn’t feel like springtime is just around the corner. It’s been an eventful winter here in St. John’s but for a moment this morning I thought about all the great things of spring and summer. Genesis 8:22 says, “While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.” This verse reminds us of the seasons of life, the cycle of seasons. Another Bible writer says, “To everything there is a season . . .” (Ecclesiastes 3:1).
As I reflected this morning, I was reminded of God’s faithfulness throughout the seasons of life. The circumstances of your life right now may feel like winter’s cold. Whatever season you may be experiencing, I want you to know that the steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is (His) faithfulness (Lam 3:22-23). Trust in God. He is faithful and true. His love is like fire in winter’s cold.
“Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest, Sun, moon and stars in their courses above, Join with all nature in manifold witness To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.”
